KATH-TV resumes local operations 2 weeks after flood

After a forced move due to flooding, KATH-TV resumed local operations from a new HD native facility at 2pm Monday. For the 2 weeks following the flood, KTUU's signal from Anchorage was feeding directly though GCI's cable network into Southeast; that signal has now been replaced once more with KATH-TV's local signal from Juneau.

The move to a smaller office has forced some changes; most notably a re-build of the control room to a native High-Definition system. Though many programs and commercials, including all local content, are still Standard-Definition; everything is now processed digitally in HD in the new KATH-TV facility. This will reflect as a continued improvement in signal quality from the local NBC affiliate as more of the facility comes online.

Work is continuing to build out the new TV station, including bringing more HD feeds online and installation of local production facilities. The KATH-TV newsroom remained partially operational during the move, and the Southeast Spotlight Report is expected to return to air possibly as soon as this Thursday.
