Public feedback requested for March 24th tsunami warning test Published: 03/22/2010 09:25:45 NOAA's National Weather Service and Alaska's Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, in cooperation with local emergency management offices and the Alaska Broadcasters Association, will conduct a statewide test of the tsunami warning communications system on Wednesday, March 24 at 9:45 a.m. The test will utilize the live Tsunami Warning (TSW) event code, as that is the only way to fully test the system. Weather radios, TV crawls, Sirens and other warning systems may sound as they would during a real Tsunami emergency; however the audio message will announce that it's only a test. Officials are requesting public feedback after the test online at the following website: http://www.tsunami.gov/test/ By: Mikko Wilson - mikko@kath.tv |
